Is YouTube down or malfunctioning?

YouTube is down and thousands of users across the country can’t watch videos. Many users have seen error messages when they try to login, upload or simple watch a video on the popular site.

Many social media users are flooding Twitter with complaints. It seems that YouTube went off line around 8:35 p.m., ET. Thousands are unable to access any content and many have seen ‘Error 500’ when attempting to access content.

You may also see a monkey with an error message: “500 Internal Server Error Sorry, something went wrong. A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation.”

YouTube is Working on Fixing the Problem

YouTube announced on Twitter that they are working on the problem but they hasn’t identified the issue. YouTube wrote: “Thanks for your reports about YouTube, YouTube TV and YouTube Music access issues. We’re working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated.”


DownDetector Reports that YouTube is Down Worlwide

DownDetector.com shows a map that YouTube is down in the United States, Chile, Ecuador, Ireland and Portugal.

The last time YouTube went down was in June 16, 2017. Thousands of users weren’t able to use YouTube for one and a half hour after it went down. The outage mainly affected people in America.
